Our Programmes
Since 1997, NACODEV has worked alongside communities across Machakos County's semi-arid lands through six integrated programmes: each addressing a root cause of poverty, and each strengthening the other. From water Harvesting sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change, From Supporting basic Education to health, hygeine and Sanitation. From supporting improved livelihoods to empowerment programs. From Capacity building to Training and Empowering Christian Leaders.
Holistic Development Across Every Dimension of Life
Each programme targets a distinct barrier to human flourishing yet all are interconnected. Water harvesting enables enhanced food security through farming. Acquisition of skills to farmers through Capacity Building and Training enhances Sustainable Agriculture. NACODEV seeks to promote health, hygeine and sanittion standards at household levels. We also ensure food secure households and through this concept, vulnerable children are able to have uniterrupted learning while at school for their brighter future and improved Livelihood.
Water Harvesting & Sustainable Agriculture
Earth dams, sub-surface dams, water pans and dry land farming techniques enabling 6,239+ households to access sufficient water and food security across five sub-counties.
Climate Change & Capacity Building
Agro-forestry, environmental rehabilitation, clean cook stoves and community training programmes — building resilience against drought and land degradation in Yatta and Mwala.
Education & OVC Support
Supporting orphans and vulnerable children across the sub-counties to access education and healthcare, while building guardian livelihoods to sustain school attendance.
Health, Hygiene & Sanitation
Bio-sand water filters, HIV/AIDS awareness, mobile VCT services and drugs and substance abuse prevention — delivering clean water and health security to thousands of households.
Youth Empowerment
Influencing positive behaviour change and equipping young people with vocational skills, sporting opportunities and community leadership development across ASAL areas.
Christian & Pastoral Empowerment
Mainstreaming Christian values across all NACODEV activities and training church leaders to serve as community change agents for spiritual growth and holistic development.
Community-Led. Faith-Rooted. Long-Term.
NACODEV does not deliver aid; it builds capacity in a means to transform the beneficiaries mindset. Every programme begins with community mobilization through demand driven approach and trains local people as the primary implementers for self sustatinability. Rooted in Christian values and operating as a development arm of the Ngangani Redeemed Gospel Church. NACODEV's approach integrates spiritual, economic and social development as inseparable aspects of human empowerment and development.
Currently with projects across Yatta, Mwala, Masinga, Kathiani and Machakos sub-counties, the organisation partners with local self-help groups, schools, churches and government extension services to ensure every intervention is contextually appropriate, locally owned and sustainable.
Communities contribute labour, land and materials; building investment and long-term stewardship of every project.
Water, food, health, education and faith are addressed together because poverty is never caused by just one thing.
Christian values of dignity, service and hope underpin every programme; motivating both staff and community members.
Training, field schools and mentorship ensure communities develop the skills to sustain and scale their own progress.
