Our Foundation
NACODEV was founded in 1997 as a ministry of the Ngangani Redeemed Gospel Church. Its mandate, rooted in Christian scripture, is to mobilise and empower communities to meet their most urgent needs in accordance with the values of dignity, service, compassion and hope. Every programme NACODEV delivers water, food, education, health, youth; flows from this foundation.
NACODEV's vision of a "socio-economically and spiritually empowered community" reflects the conviction that material development without spiritual formation is incomplete, and that spiritual growth without practical engagement in community needs is equally insufficient. The two are inseparable.
What This Programme Does
Christian emphasis is woven into every NACODEV programme. Training sessions, community meetings and field activities are conducted within a framework that affirms the dignity of every person, calls community members to serve one another, and roots hope for change in faith. This is not incidental to NACODEV's work; it is the motivating foundation from which all service flows.
NACODEV trains church leaders to embrace a holistic approach to development; equipping pastors and church elders to understand their role not only in Sunday worship but in the week-by-week practical transformation of their communities. Trained leaders become community change agents who extend NACODEV's reach into areas and relationships NACODEV staff alone could not access.
The programme supports the ongoing spiritual development of community members and church congregations through teaching, mentorship and structured discipleship; building the character and values that sustain community transformation over the long term.
Through its model of practical, compassionate service, NACODEV demonstrates Christian witness in action. Communities experience the reality of faith through the provision of clean water, access to education, healthcare and livelihoods; a form of witness that goes beyond words.

In communities where the church is often the most trusted and most accessible institution, equipping church leaders for holistic community development multiplies the impact of every programme. A pastor who understands water harvesting talks about it to his congregation. An elder trained in OVCs support identifies vulnerable children who would otherwise fall through the gaps. A youth leader who embodies positive values influences far more young people than any single programme can reach directly.
The Christian and Pastoral Empowerment programme is the connective tissue of NACODEV's work ensuring that the values, relationships and structures that make long-term change possible are continuously renewed across the communities NACODEV serves.
